SNEŽNIK TRAILS EVENT
A little history: In 2007, a group of enthusiastic running enthusiasts combined their ideas and founded the Bistrc Running Association. The same year, the 1st Bistric Run was organized, which attracted the first competitors to the popular terrain on the second Saturday in June over a distance of 10km – on a course known locally as the ‘Bistric 10‘. For the 10th anniversary of the Bistric Run, the organizing committee put their heads together and prepared a refreshing program: in 2017, the first Milanja Trail took place in two lengths: 17 and 31 km.
WHERE AND WHEN
-
Second Saturday in June -
Črne njive above Ilirska Bistrica
-
Start at 9:00
Since the courses run along the beautiful Snežniška plateau, we decided in 2024 to rename the event the Snežnik trails. And in 2025 we managed to add the longest – 65km Snežnik trail to our competition.
In addition to the aforementioned competitions, children’s and youth runs are also held as part of the event, and we organize an entertainment program for the youngest family members.
Competitive routes
The start and finish of all competition routes are Črne njive above Ilirska Bistrica.
The routes run along macadam and forest paths and paths along the slopes of the Snežnik plateau. The varied relief routes are run along well-paved macadam paths between tall pine trees and flowering karst grasslands and offer enjoyment in clean air and secluded corners. They are run under the picturesque Milanja ridge, which is also known as Volovja reber, 31km trail climbs to the popular hiking point – the top of Kozlek and the longest trail challenges you to climb our mount Snežnik.
