Amazing Sneznik trails 2025

Sneznik trails

This year’s edition of the Snežnik Trails, held on June 14, 2025 in Ilirska Bistrica, was successfully completed, once again confirming the growth and popularity of the event.

With over 300 registered runners from 9 different countries, we ensured a lively running atmosphere, while enhancing last year’s success through well-organized management and a rich supporting program with stalls from local vendors.

The main races were the Milanja Trail (17 km), which this year counted for the Primorski Mountain Running Cup (PGT) for the first time, the Kozlek Trail with a distance of 31 km, and the oldest competitive distance: the Bistriška 10-ka.

Children’s races awarded points in the Leone Cup and the children’s section of PGT.

Runners were guided through varied, forested terrain, requiring both speed and endurance – characteristics of true trail challenges.

At the finish line, we recorded 287 finishers, including 84 children, marking the second-highest participation in the children’s races of the Leone Cup to date.

Special attention was given to collaboration with local communities, schools, and clubs, as local environments enable mass participation of children. Although results show great potential, increasing the presence of young runners at other races across Slovenia remains a challenge.

As part of the 16th Bistriška  10-ka, the winners were Jernej Šemrov (ŠD Hotedršica) and Jasmina Kozina Praprotnik (Urban Runners), who, in addition to their successes in marathon distances, also excel in shorter races.

At the Milanja Trail, the winners were Uroš Rozman (AK Radovljica) and Sara Del Giusto (AK Istra), who secured convincing victories in the overall competition with strong performances.

The most demanding route of the Kozlek Trail was completed fastest by Alenka Rožič (Tržič), achieving her first trail victory, and Anže Sobočan (Salomon Slovenia), who demonstrated his readiness for longer courses with an impressive performance.

For next year, we already announce an expansion of the routes – including a new 65-kilometer “royal” challenge, running over the summit of Snežnik.
